Egrisi Sastumro (Hotel Egrisi) is the perfect little beach hotel, the kind with a fine layer of sand on the Pergowood floors immediately after they\u2019ve been swept.  The place is clean and bright, with lots of windows, air-conditioned guest rooms, a big courtyard for parking, and beach towels and swimsuits drying on every balcony.  The hosts (Gakha and Maia) are so welcoming and relaxed, and the beach at Gonio-Kvatania so uncrowded, clean, and mellow that we decided to stay another night at the hotel and spend today at the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two chaises with nice cushions plus one umbrella for the day set us back 30 lari (less than $20) and we relaxed after yesterday\u2019s long, rough drive across the mountainous Adjara region.   We lounged, dunked, read, napped, dunked, and bought snacks from vendors who trudged up and down the shingle all day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
